The main initial resource for Provider services is the MeLearning Care Act courses, an e-learning package that covers 12 areas of our work affected by the Act, and we will be making this available to colleagues in the PIV sector too.
The 12 courses, with 2-3 modules, cover:
Introduction and Overview; Information and Advice; Assessment and Eligibility; Independent Advocacy; Charging and Financial Assessment; Deferred Payments; Care and Support Planning, Personal Budgets; Direct Payments; Review of Care and Support Plans; Transition to Adulthood and Integration Cooperation and Partnerships.
The Introduction modules have been made mandatory for all staff across the Directorate. Acknowledging the difficulties for some Provider staff to access e-learning, some 16 guided sessions have been provided, and reports on compliance will be circulated, with slippage already allowed on a 1/4/15 completion date.
Managers have been asked to indicate which other courses they feel appropriate for different roles in their services, with senior managers mandated for all 11 courses. The plan encompassing those in the middle will be circulated and attached here once all matrices have been received.
