Research in Practice for Adults

Membership to Research in Practice for Adults is available to all Walsall Council staff.

Research in Practice for Adults provides research, resources and tools to support social care professionals in the development of services for adults. They offer a range of services which will help us to continually improve our practice and deliver the best standards of care for the adults we support, keeping them safe and helping them to have a better quality of life.

This partnership represents our commitment to continuous professional development and our dedication to meeting and exceeding quality standards for the sector. Our membership gives us access to a full learning and development programme for all staff.

Through the website https://www.ripfa.org.uk/you can access and download a range of publications from briefings to toolkits, book onto events, listen to recorded webinars, take part in online forum discussions to share best practice and much more.

To make the most of our membership and the resources on offer, just complete these three easy steps:

  1. Set up an online account

Every staff member can set up their own online account in order to access the full Research in Practice for Adults library of evidence, information publications and resource materials. Setting up an account is easy.

Go to https://www.ripfa.org.uk/membership/create-an-online-account

enter your work email address as the main contact, fill in the form details, and choose ‘Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council’ from the organisation list.

Once you have created an account you will be able to browse and download the full range of publications and recorded training events and webinars.

The monthly RiPfA members’ bulletin is a valuable resource highlighting new materials and training available to you, as well as relevant sector-wide news.

The College of Social Work

Membership to The College of Social Work is available to social workers, advanced practitioners and team managers employed by Walsall Council.

This membership package entitles individuals to access a range of services/resources:

  •  Knowledge @ The College online help desk

Members can submit any professional practice questions and dilemmas they have to a panel of social work experts who will provide a response with referenced evidence.

  •  CPD e-Portfolio

A place for members to plan and keep records of all continuing professional development activity and outcomes in line with HCPC registration requirements which maps onto the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF)

  •  E-Books and Journals

Access to academic journals and a range of e-Books to support evidence informed practice and professional development.

  •  Professional practice guidance and resources

An interactive PCF tool to provide clarity about professional standards required at all levels and stages of professional development.

  •  Communities of Interest

This allows online communities to share practice, exchange ideas, network, access resources to support good practice, as well as an opportunity for members to contribute to practice debates.

  •  Monthly Social Work Matters e-Magazine

Latest updates on the professional news, best practice examples, policy issues and debates.

  •  Peer mentoring

A network of practitioners providing individual support and guidance to professional peers.
