New Care Act Legal Literacy Training

To support the preparation for implementign the Care Act with effect from 1 April 2014.  Two half day training dates have been identified:

15 and 23 October 2014.( 9.30am - 1.00pm)

Council Chamber, Council House, Lichfield Street, Walsall

 Outline Content

The sessions are intended to provide an introduction to /overview of the changes and potential challenge associated wih the new Care Act.

 The outline content:

  1. An overview of the confusion caused by the current legislation (mental health, national assistance, mental  capacity, CGRAG etc).                                    
  2. Feedback participation  regarding anomalies and practical difficulties.

  1. Overview of new Care Act and its principles
  2. Interaction regarding interpretation of terms such as “well being”
  3. Statutory duties (assessments, safeguarding boards, emphasis on carers as well as adults themselves)
  4.  Feedback/ questions

  1. Potentials for legal challenge (ordinary residence, definitions, charging, consistency between boroughs)
  2. An overview of regulations and issues arising
  3. Any tips for avoiding challenge (discussion)
