Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) 2 days

Venue - Sneyd Outdoor Activity Centre, Vernon Way. Bloxwich Duration - Session will run 09.30-4.30 both days( Please aim to arrive 15 minutes prior to course start time)

 

Target Audience

This event is available to all members of the Walsall adult’s workforce who wish to become a mental health first aider, this course is acredeted via MHFA England and your qualification will last 3 years. 

As an MHFAider® you will be able to:

  •  - Recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention 
  •  - Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports 
  •  - Practise active listening and empathy 
  •  - Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma 
  •  - Discuss the MHFAider® role in depth, including boundaries and confidentiality 
  •  - Practise self-care 
  •  - Know how to use the MHFAider Support App® 
  •  - Know how to access a dedicated text service provided by Shout and ongoing learning opportunities with MHFA England  

 

How to book on an event

A booking form must be completed for each course. Most of our courses only allow 3 delegates from one establishment to attend on a given date.

We request that managers book their staff on rather than individuals.

Once we have received your form

 

Cancelling your booking

All cancellation requests must be made in writing, with reason, to learninganddevelopment@walsall.gov.uk

Wherever possible a substitute should be named to avoid any recharges.

You will be informed immediately if your cancellation incurs a recharge.

      Booking forms will not be accepted without preferred date(s).
    • Ensure your organisation gives approval for you to attend
      Learning and Development are not responsible for any bookings made without this approval.

      Attendance on our courses is free. Non-attendance or late cancellation may incur a recharge to your organisation.
    • If spaces are available you will be booked onto the course
    • if no spaces are available you will be notified of alternative dates
    • Your booking will be confirmed using the email address provided
