HCPC define CPD as ‘a range of learning activities through which health and care professionals maintain and develop throughout their career to ensure that they retain their capacity to practice safely, effectively and legally within their evolving scope of practice’.
CPD should demonstrate a blended learning approach rather than the ‘traditional training’ approach. Blended learning combines different learning methods, media, resources and styles, both formal and informal, to maximise the learning experience.
CPD Examples CPD Evidence
It is recommended that professionals keep an up to date record of all CPD activity to record the on-going development.
HCPC have put together example profiles in partnership with professional bodies, to give examples of how registrants in different settings, doing different kinds of activities, could show how they meet our standards for CPD if they were selected for audit, click here for sample profiles.
For further information about what happens if you are selected for audit visit the HCPC website.
