Dementia

With partner organisations we have designed a four module training package providing an overview of the condition and the best ways to deliver personalised support. The modules are each 3hrs long and whilst we recommend module 1 first, they can be taken in any order, and are open to all the wider workforce. Dates will be available through the year – see Dementia Awareness training page for more information, detail and booking. Dementia is an umbrella term for the symptoms of around 100 different brain diseases that cause problems with memory, language skills, mental agility, understanding and judgement. Alzheimer's is the most common, accounting for nearly two-thirds of cases. Autism

Autism is a lifelong disability affecting approximately 400,000 adults in the U.K. Developed with professionals and people with autism, our  half-day Introducing Autism workshop will develop your knowledge and understanding of the condition and how best to support people on the 'Autistic Spectrum'.

Mental Health

We provide sessions using the accredited Mental Health First Aid, with internally and externally led courses, please see here for further information on our training. You can also find information on local provision delivered through the Dudley & Walsall Partnership Trust here, and there is further information and learning opportunities for Approved Mental Health Practitioners on our Social Work tab.

Telecare

From the autumn of 2015, we will have regular sessions put on at the Independent Living Centre (ilc), which will be advertised on here and elsewhere. These will include some practical demonstrations, and a chance to find out about wider ilc support.

The ilc can be found at 9 Wisemore, Walsall WS2 8EZ (alongside Tesco Extra).

We will also be working with the ilc to produce a basic e-learning telecare awareness package

In the meantime, you can still see our virtual tour, including some of the useful, and often simple, technology that can support independence in the home. (link to Primley House tour).

For more information on telecare see our telecare training presentation here

and our   Advanced Assistive Technology Training

We also have a section on telecare within module 4 of our dementia training which you can find more about here.
