CQC are the independent health and adult social care regulator. Their job is to make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and provide encouragement for them to improve.
CQC do this by monitoring, inspecting and regulating services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publish their findings, including performance ratings to help people choose care.
CQC's new inspection model provides guidance on how inspections are changing with the introductuion of a new model and new rating system.

Skills for Care is the employer-led workforce development body for adult social care in England. They work with employers and other partners to create a fit for purpose qualifications framework and practical resources to
develop the skills, knowledge and leadership of the care workforce.
In April 2015 the Common Induction Standards were replaced by the Care Certificate. The Care Certificate sets out explicitly the learning outcomes, competences and standards of care that will be expected in health and social care, ensuring that both sectors are caring, compassionate and provides quality care. The Care Certificate will form part of a robust and thorough induction for new employees which may be on-going for up to 6 months.
